We are working both to decrease food waste on campus and increase food access off-campus. Every day, dining halls, cafés, and events on campus produce leftover food. To prevent it from going to waste, we plan to institutionalize a system for donating leftovers by coordinating between campus eateries and local organizations that accept leftover food donations. We also hope to work on creating a "Green Café" verification that can be awarded to campus cafés that meet sustainability requirements. Off campus, we will be working with community food organizations in East Palo Alto - such as Collective Roots - to help increase access to healthy, affordable foods. This may include creating and distributing an infographic about where residents can access affordable food and conducting other outreach projects.
