About
The Climate Action group aims to lower Stanford’s carbon footprint while teaching and empowering students to combat climate change on both a personal and political level.
Goals
The Climate Action group hopes to address climate change within the university, students’ personal lives, and the surrounding community.
Stanford created an initiative last year to become 80 percent carbon neutrality by 2025, so the Climate Action group will work with the administration to help Stanford achieve to this goal and become a leading university on climate initiatives.
All Stanford students can address climate change within their personal lives. That’s why the Climate Action group will focus on teaching students how to lower their carbon footprint through initiatives such as Meatless Mondays and other educational lessons. We will also empower students to take political action on climate change through lobbying, op-ed writing, and more.
While SSS is a student group, it’s important to involve the surrounding communities in order to solve our environmental crises. That’s why the Climate Action group will work with local schools and cities to develop climate action plans and support state climate initiatives outside of the university.
